It’s that special time of year again! You know . . . pumpkin time!! To celebrate the first day of autumn, Tom, the doggies and I paid a visit to the great pumpkin patch over the weekend. Sadly, we missed Linus, Snoopy and the gang, but we did find some spectacular pumpkins.
Before I share my pumpkin beauties, let’s get to the results of the drawing for the painting by Liz Floyd.
WOW, so many of you took the time to enter the drawing – many, many thanks!!! Your support and kind words regarding Liz’s work mean a lot to both of us. There were a total of 250 comments, but only 237 qualified. Some comments posted twice (in which case the second was stricken), and some were replies / follow-ups / clarifications. I printed out all the pages for review and numbered each comment. Because there was such a positive response, Liz and I decided to draw two names and give both paintings away.
The deadline to enter the giveaway was at 8:00 PM Eastern Time on 8/24/13.
Congratulations to Lori and NKBrown! I have your email addresses and will be in touch regarding shipping. A million thanks to Liz for the paintings. And, thank you all for participating. I plan to host more giveaways of original art, antiques, pillows, etc. Please stay tuned.
Now for a bit of fall decor at Tone on Tone. Enjoy!
An autumnal tone-on-tone vignette! Here we have a pair of 18th century Swedish windows, garden statues depicting the seasons, and two Lumina pumpkins on a French painted console. Under the console is a large basket perfect for keeping birch firewood.
In the antique English copper fish poacher is a group of warty gourds. Kinda ugly, kinda cool. I love their lumps and bumps! The vitrine cabinet is Swedish. The English Regency looking glass hangs above a French etagere.
Keeping it cool for autumn: blue pumpkins with lavender-bluish mums. I believe these are Australian Queensland Blue pumpkins.
Congrats to the winners of the paintings and how generous of Liz to offer two!
Now onto your pumpkins! The first vignette literally made me gasp. It is just so beautiful. The statues are absolutely priceless. I especially love the dapper young man pulling his lapels in for warmth. Who would not like lumpy bumpy white gourds in copper?! Your decorating skills never cease to amaze me Loi.
Thanks for a beautiful post.
Fondly-Lisa
i love all the whites and grays in your pumpkins! and i think you misspelled my name….. 😉
Loi, I am in love with your Fall decor! I am thrilled to see the white pumpkins once more, and now we have those gorgeous lavender ones! They are amazing. No one does Fall as good as you!

Patty
Beautiful photos, Loi! xo
Loi! What a fun way to spend the weekend 🙂 I love the pumpkins and gourds you selected and have displayed. You have such a wonderful eye for creating pleasing vignettes, and the first grouping of white pumpkins is a real inspiration.
Liz
Thanks, Liz. Especially for your generosity! I have already contacted both winners, and they are thrilled!!
Well just because you (and Tom;)) are so damn good looking and nice, I will continue to be a faithful follower even though I didn't win the paintings:( I am just that kind of girl, very forgiving and big of heart! Ha! Your displays are gorgeous Loi, I have never seen a blue pumpkin before…did you notice how I seamlessly went into big girl mode? Just sayin' xob
dreaming of the day I will be able to visit your shop in person, loi….donna
Blue pumpkins!!! I adore them; so versatile as a decorating accessory and totally unusual. What lucky winners !
Love your pumpkins, Loi and soooo happy to be introduced to Liz's art. It is fabulous. Wish I had been a winner, but happy I will be a buyer:-). Xo, k
I was wondering when you'd share your fall decor, I knew it'd be fabulous and you didn't disappoint! My favorite are the lavender mums. They accent the tone on tone decor so perfectly!
Hello Loi, This was a fun contest, and I will now keep an eye out for the work of Ms. Floyd.
You always have so much new to show. I like architectural antiques, and admired the display with the two window sashes. Also that glimpse of what looks like an iron fireback.
Good eye, Jim! That is indeed an iron fireback. It's Swedish from the early 1700s.
YOU have tickled my imagination and decorating sensibilities my friend! I am on the search for good white pumpkins this weekend and NO PLASTIC ONES this year….I used them one year to prevent the squirrels from eating them, but even the plastic ones (outside of course) got ruined in the rain….but this year, REAL white pumpkins are coming inside the house. The way you display them with the perfect white windows and in the copper dish are just perfect. You and Tom have the best Swedish/gray/white sense around!
LOVE TO YOU! Anita
Lucky, lucky painting winners–congrats to them! It was so generous to offer both in the giveaway!
And on to the autumnal look of the shop–just amazing. I especially love the purple-blue mums in the porcelain bucket–natural meets refined.
Leave it to Loi to find perfect pumpkins and to place them so perfectly in his pretty shop! I love each vignette! Not seen the blue with the bright green stem, will keep my eye out.
Loi, as always, utter perfection- sigh…!

I'm thinking of all the places I can picture those gorgeous Swedish windows. A great find. We were also just out gathering pumpkins. Isn't it wonderful we can find so many unique heirloom varieties now. Enjoy the season. Cheers!
Congratulations to the winners! Loi, of course you would use white pumpkins. They coordinate with your decor perfectly. I really love the small gourds in the copper pan. Just lovely.
Congrats to the winners! Love the white pumpkins….They look beautiful with your decor and your gorgeous vignettes. I have never been a big orange pumpkin fan!

Υour house is so beautiful…and your selection of pumpkins exquisite Loi! Unfortunately, this kind of pumkins doens't exist here, only the orange ones and some green-grey variety.

Loi, The gourds in the copper container are gorgeous and I love the blue/lavender pumpkins! I've never seen those and they are so unique. Your vignettes are beautiful 🙂 Happy Fall! xxL
I adore heirloom pumpkins so much more interesting than the old orange variety. Those blue ones are to die for. I am doing a house tour in November and would love to use some of them!!
Oh I love your pumpkins! I haven't got out to get any yet this year – too busy getting ready for the flea! Now that it is over maybe I can get some fall decor going here 🙂
Hi Loi,
Even your pumpkins has a chic style to them. Beautiful! Thanks again for sharing Liz's work with your readers. I am not following her blog. I appreciate you sharing your design inspirations! Your blog is such a blessing. Have a great week my friend!

Ethereal vignettes!! franki
Hi Loi–I love each photo and their objects. I wish I were in the Autumn mode here in So. California–it was 90 yesterday. But coolness is coming and I will start getting into the spirit. xoxoxoxo
Mary
Loi,
I love those bluish pumpkins and I've never seen white gourds before. The statues make such a great seasonal statement. The young man appears to be pulling up his collar to ward of the chill.
Happy autumn, my friend.
Karen
congrats to the winners!
only you could style and photograph warty gourds and make them look chic. can we give them a new name though for my sake? calabash rich with verruca, for example. ok. i'm over the bumplicious fruit.
have a wonderful week, my friend. i am busy creating for a lil' art show and de-cluttering my home by selling everything i don't love or need (oh man i like sellling things…who knew?).
michele
Dear Loi,
Festive and Fabulous – were you thinking of me when you wrote that?
I like the pumpkins and I especially like that arrangement with the window frames. That has given me an idea that I think I would like to use in the future!
Bye for now
Kirk
Beautiful fall decor at casa Tone on Tone, I love those blue pumpkins! And congratulations to both winners!

Loi I couldn't wait to see what you would do for fall. I LOVE the touches you have added to your home. I adore those hobby gourds….your neutral palette always strikes a soothing note with me. So relaxing and inviting after a busy day.
I have enjoyed buying these type of pumpkins for past several fall seasons and for the first time I am curious to know how they taste, but believe they are too beautiful to cut, lol. They all look lovely in your home!
Congratulations to the two very lucky winners of your superb prizes Loi. I love the blue coloured pumpkins contrasting so beautifully with the Michaelmas daisies.
Hi Loi – The blue pumpkins are beautiful! What a find. I will have to see if I can find any in my area. The paintings are lovely–they are sure to be much appreciated by the winners.
xo,
Deborah
I always love your fall inspiration and saved your white pumpkin images from last year, because I thought you had them displayed so beautifully. How amazing are the blue pumpkins – have never seen them, but just love how they look in your home!!
I really do enjoy your 'Autumn vignettes', Loi! And your stunning pumpkin collection!!! Love the blue ones! Still remember your last years wonderful one. How fast is the year gone and where to?
Hope that you had a good and successful summer and looking forward to all your coming posts!
Sorry for my absence – but lots of unexpected things came up during the last few months, so, I neglected the blog world to some extend. Had a quick look to all your last posts and love them all!
Warmest greetings from the Périgord, karin
Oh – and congratulations to the winners!
Welcome back, Karin! So great to hear from you!!
Hello Loi, your designs are always so stylish and chic. Love seeing them all the time here on your Blog and on Instagram. Happy Fall to you.
Congratulations to the Winners.
Love your beautiful tone on tone autumnal vignettes.
– The Tablescaper
Loi, all lovely and quiet gatherings of autumn's beautiful bounties. Especially enchanting is that elegant Australian Queensland Blue collection, such an autumnal ambiance of 'Tone on Tone' technique!
Congrats to the winners of those gorgeous paintings!
Happy Fall!
Poppy
Loi….these arrangements are just stunning! I adore those Lumina and Queensland Blue pumpkins and am now keen to try and grow these next year in my kitchen garden! I am actually about to harvest all my Gourds today and plan to share them on my blog soon……I am pleased to discover that there are quite a few creamy white ones which I prefer to the yellow ones….(me being fussy!)
Have a lovely day,
Sophia x
Beautiful my friend, I have yet to find white ones near me, Im going to have to make a road trip! Did I tell you Im going to Italy Oct. 8th with my sister? I'll write you the details, but cannot wait! Hope youre doing well.
xoxoNancy
Dear Loi – Congratulations to the winners (and it was neat to see how they were picked!). I am in love with the blue pumpkins, which I would never have imagined would appear in nature — they really look as though you took the time to add a patina yourself. What delights me most about this posting though, is the little male statuette, buffing himself against cold weather by raising his collar. I can imagine how appropriate that would look outdoors on a winter's day!
So many Fall vignette ideas to take away!!! Thanks.
I'm so happy (or trying to be– lol) for the winners. I love Liz's paintings! I also love your vignettes and pumpkins! Last year it was white and this year, there's blue too? Oh my… tone on tone blues! How gorgeous! Come to think of it… I love almost any color done tone on tone…(analogous color schemes we said in design school) I think its the complexity of the various shades of the same hue that's so pleasing!
I could die over those blue pumpkins! I love them. I loathe orange pumpkins so the blue are the best thing since white ones.
And that little marble table on which they sit is equally amazing!
Loi your pumpkins are wonderful, the blue ones! never seen in this part of the country. We get mostly the traditional orange and some white but Blue, never. May be next fall I will tag along with you to buy pumpkins.
Have a wonderful fall.
I just love everything you do! Loving the pumpkins and your Fall touches are so elegant! Congrats to the winners! xx
cooper and gourds are a winning team!
Hi Loi,
Love your choice of pumpkins, especially those blue/gray ones, and the your arrangement of all of them. Don't you wish you could see what Terrain does with autumn? I do.
Lovely, lovely post –
b
Bille, the next time you are in the Brandywine Valley, let's have lunch at Terrain!!
Hi Loi.
I love your fall vignettes. Especially those white warty goards. I think this year, I'm taking a break from the traditional orange and try to stick with more of the cream/white accents. Love everything you did.
Oh Loi, this is all so lovely! The two garden statues are gorgeous…wishing they were right here, somewhere…!! I am taking more of a Tone on Tone approach to my decorating…thank you for all this wonderful inspiration! N.xo
Congratulations to those lucky winners!
Your pumpkins look fab again this year Loi, & I love the addition on the blue ones!
Cheers!
Keri
Congratulations to both Lori and NKBrown! What a super generous giveaway Loi.
I love those Lumina pumpkins, as I said to you on Instagram, I shall always think of Tone on Tone when I see them and those gourds are simply wonderful, this year we forgot to plant any but I just pencilled them in to my diary for next year!
We are knee deep in pumpkins at the moment prepping for the 'dark season'.
Cheers me dears!
Paul:)
Ahh…I missed you while in Paris and London! It's funny how we grow accustom to reading certain blogs as some read the paper and when we don't have great internet, it grows difficult. Good to be home and back on track!
Loi-again another perfectly styled vignette. love everything you do it's always done so well and I so enjoy reading your blog! Thanks for adding me to your blog roll. That was really sweet of you. xoxo
Congratulations to the winners!
I'm in love with white pumpkins too Loi, and have placed a couple of them in our entry! Your decor is always classy! Even your pumpkins looks classier! This season is truly inspiring and I can see it in your lovely decor Loi. Love the bumpy ones too and they last for years. I got a couple that have been with me for I think 4 years already and they are still beautiful but lighter.
Loi,
Those pumpkins are soooo cool. I really love the 2 white ones between the statues. I just hosted a big dinner party and white pumpkins were used in the flower arrangements and along the tables.
Enjoy this Fall season!
xoxo Elizabeth
Loi,
The pumpkins and shop look wonderful and so festive in the most elegant way! Boy, and I sorry for missing a chance at that giveaway-sigh…
xo,
~Rebecca
Loi,
Congrats to the winners and to you on your winning decorating skills during any season. Loving those white pumpkins….
pve
Loi, I hate that I've been so busy that I haven't been able to see your last few posts…the give away looked phenomenal and wow…you got so many wonderful responses! I am loving these white pumpkins and gourds…yes, they are sort of ugly as you say but so interesting! I always have them in an arrangement at home….we had a lovely Cinderella pumpkin filled with roses, hydrangeas, etc…that Alison did for us for our show last week. I truly thought of you when I saw it as I knew you would think it was beautiful! Happy Fall and Happy October to you! Here's to hopefully staying in touch more often than not!
You are so fair….love that about you! AND….you also scored some killer pumpkins in all kinds of smashing colors!
Pure gorgeousness, dear Loi!! In awe of your talent…you are inspiring me to get creative with the pumpkins…change up the color scheme…
Those pumpkins are fairy-tale worthy…(even the gourds!!)…but I'm sorry you missed Charlie and the gang..heee… 😉
Congratulations to the lucky winners of the paintings!
So wonderful to see your message….the Fair is always interesting…
How is the mood in D.C. right now? I hope very much that this craziness gets resolved very soon…
Thank you for the inspiration, dear friend!!!
Keep rockin' Autumn! 🙂 Can't wait for more…
Much love,
– Irina
Hi Loi,
I wish I could visit your shop – every corner is so inviting!
I particularly love those unusual purplish- blue pumpkins. They are gorgeous with the asters, and I am a fool for purple in the garden. I'll have to search those out and see if they have made their way south.
We have had some rain, nothing major, but the plants are refreshed – it's that free nitrogen a good electrical storm produces. However, it is 90 something today, so it does not feel like autumn yet. I hope you are having some lovely seasonal weather.
Happy pumpkin month!
Suzanne
I've never seen a blueish pumpkin – love them! They go perfectly with the swedish aesthetic!
Hi Loi! Love the bluish pumpkins and the mound of white – simple and divine!
