The sight of robins in the garden is delightful. Just seeing them makes me smile. In DC, robins are native & abundant. Whenever they see me outside, one or two will invariably follow—especially when I’m watering or weeding. As soon as I move to the next spot, the robin will look for worms and grubs in the area I left. Sometimes I’ll toss them a worm 🙂 Today, this little friend completely charmed me!
I fill and change the water in this birdbath daily. The English box are flushing out nicely.
Behind (at top) is the hedge of camellia sasanquas. They bloom white in autumn.
Blooming are “mount hood” daffodils. White “mount everest” alliums will soon bloom.
Here is a look at the hornbeam trees leafing out. They will be pruned and shaped in summer. Under the hornbeams are white blooming “vinca minor albas”
Oh Loi, your landscape is gorgeous. What a wonderful time of year to enjoy your gardens.
I'm glad your guest cooperated and let you take pictures to share with us.
Here's to many more beautiful days.
Yes, love your garden.
Absolutely beautiful Loi!! I think that is the most fabulous birdbath I have ever seen! I love an all white garden, and even had one in Dallas, so I think those white daffodils are perfect! Oh, and we had an amazing view of the real Mount Hood from our first apartment;)so I love the name. I adore Robins also and just noticed some up our way last week!
Happy weekend to you!

What a beautiful garden. I do love your green and white color palette. DC is a good town for growing things. This time of year, I would walk through Dumbarton Oaks with my daughters and get inspiration.
More photos please.

So excited to find your blog!!! I am your newest follower!!! Your garden is beautiful!!! I come to DC often, and I hope to ge tot your shop soon!
Robins are some of my favorites. Sometimes I put apples, cut in half, and placed cut side up in the yard for them to eat (because I read somewhere that they like that). The apples always disappear so I guess something likes them!
Your garden is so beautiful! I'm a big white garden fan & I love seeing all your white daffodils with the box. I am hoping to create a pleached hedge out of hornbeam this fall and I'm wondering, are you growing American Hornbeam or European?
It's fantastic to connect on our blogs and I'm honored that you added me to your blogroll! Thanks so much; I've added your blog to mine as well.
Keri
Thanks so much, Keri 🙂 Mine are European Hornbeams. Hornbeams are wonderful when pleached! Looking forward to seeing more of your home and gardens. Cheers, L
Hi Loi,
Your garden is beautiful.
I always find it a treat when a robin comes to visit.
So glad to have discovered your blog.

Loi, you are a talented gardener! Here in the South we've got these pesky birds that dive-bomb during mating season. They've been chasing me while I walk my dogs lately. Now I understand Hitchcock's inspiration… Have a wonderful weekend!
Beautiful garden and photos! Especially love the English box! Happy Weekend to you, Loi.

OK, now I am even more amazed. You rock! The bird and fountain are stunning. I love the symmetry. I just want to fly there to take shade under the trees. This is my favorite time of year in DC/Bethesda! Enjoy the beautiful days. Actually, I see you already do:-) xo
Just beautiful! The robin and your incredible garden! Happy Easter Weekend!
Robins are fun birds to watch. They always look so serious. Right now we have a strange little chickadee that comes every morning and bangs incessantly against the brass kick plate of our door. We think he's fighting his reflection.
Love the hornbeams in your garden.
If I were a robin I would be hanging out in your garden too!
Happy Easter!!! Can't wait to see you soon!
Piers japonica is the plant. A nice shrub beside the front door, loaded with flowers this year thanks to the mild winter.

Many thanks, Pat. I appreciate the information. Loi
Loi, I just wanted to "thank you" for being so gracious when I visited your store this past Saturday. It is unbelievably gorgeous and you are so warm and friendly. I hope your party this week goes off wonderfully and that you have a great time with all of your blogger friends.
Best,
Jenny Cunningham
Dear Jenny – I don't have your email address, so hopefully you will see this response. Thank you for visiting—wonderful having you! I really enjoyed meeting you, and please bring your husband and son next time. I hope you all had a great time in DC. Please come back soon 🙂 Cheers, Loi
Loi, your garden is perfectly beautiful. It exactly what I would want – if only I lived in a more forgiving climate. all best, Phyllis
Absolutely beautiful Loi. There is nothing like spring in the garden on the East Coast. We don't get that here. Our spring just sort of creeps in…
Such a beautiful garden, Loi! I love robins too, and this one looks rather happy there in the beautiful birdbath.
Happy Wednesday.
Teresa
