Every spring I get the urge to freshen up the house and redecorate. Sometimes I reupholster, change out pillows or replace one major piece of furniture or large accessory. This year I’ve decided to replace the beige wool rug in the family room. It, along with much of the furniture, came from our former home. (The rug was in a spare bedroom). Being so light in color and having such little texture, it is not the best choice for a family room where we and our two dogs like to hangout.I will post photos of the new family room rug once I find it. Please keep an eye out for one – something neutral, soft and with a bit of heathering or texture that is forgiving.
In the meantime, here are photos of our former home. Many of these photos are from the Sept 2008 issue of Traditional Home.

Loi
Hi Loi – I saved that issue of Traditional Home because of your home feature. What a nice surprise to see the additional photos here that weren't in TH. The paint color on the porch floor is beautiful and seems to highlight the patina on the porch lantern. Very nice!
Deborah
Hi Deborah – Thank you for noticing the porch floor color. You are 100% right! The zinc lantern was the inspiration for that floor color. I also added a bit of sand to the paint to make it less slippery. Cheers, Loi
Hi Loi – Adding sand to the paint is an idea I hadn't thought of. My front steps/porch need repaiting so I'm going to give that a try. Thanks for the tip! Happy Weekend,
Deborah
I'm so excited to see that you're blogging! The tour of your former home was a treat. Absolutely agree with Deborah, that issue of Traditional Home was a keeper! Michele
Michele – You are so sweet and generous to introduce my newbie blog 🙂 Thank you! Thank you! I am very grateful and appreciative. You really made my day!! xoxox, Loi
I agree with Deborah! That kitchen was so airy; you know my love of workspaces. Do you feel like your tastes have evolved with the new house? Do you find yourself wanting an entirely different palette? So I have to ask, what kind of puppies are we talking about? -Ann
Ann – We have two spoiled Tibetan terriers 🙂 The layout and architecture of our new house is quite different. All the rooms are mostly on one floor, so I've tried to make them flow with a consistent palette. Our old house was very vertical, therefore the color scheme could be more diverse among the 4 floors. Thank you for asking!
Hi Loi!
So glad to see that you are blogging! Your former home is one of my all time favorite interiors.
Thank you, Allison! I am enjoying your boards on Pinterest, and look forward to following your blog. Loi
I still love it! And would love to see any photos of the new house. All best, Phyllis
Thank you, Phyllis!! You already know I am your biggest Pinterest fan 🙂
Hi Loi! I recall seeing your previous home in the magazine and was so smitten that I did not forget your name! I have noticed your comments on some of the blogs I follow and was so pleased to see you here. I can't wait to follow your blog. You have exquisite style! We travel to Washington Dc about once a year and I vow next time I must get to Bethesda to visit your shop.

Love the house grays my favorite calm color. I'll be following the blog? I'm in you're area.
Hi again – so impressed with your Pinterest site! I have some catching up to do. 🙂
Soon,

hello Loi,
Such a fabulous house! I remember your feature in TH well. So happy to see that you have started a blog- welcome to blogland!
all my best,
joan
Greetings,
I love the Dala horses. I had never seen unpainted ones. Are they old? Very old?
I too recall the TH feature – most especially the green secretary.
I will look forward to your future blogs.
Hi, Rebecca – Thanks for asking about my Dala horses. Yes, these are all antiques. I collect the ones painted in whites, creams, faded blues, grays, and also, the ones that have lost their painted surfaces. The more typical Dala horses are indeed the reds, yellows, and vibrant blues. Great question! Loi

Just beautiful! So serene and relaxed. Gorgeous photos too. Congrats on the publication.
Hi Loi,
I have just discovered your blog and I noticed you follow For The Love Of A House. Joan's blog inspired me to begin blogging and my very first blog post acknowledges her. I am a fairly new blogger and so happy to have discovered another new blogger. Enough about me!!
Your previous home was lovely, I love the monochromatic grays, the Swedish Mora clock and the mirror above your couch! I know I am going to really enjoy your blog based on what you have shared so far.
Looking forward to your future posts.
So beautiful.
I'm so glad you documented your gorgeous home here.
That's one of my favorite things about blogging… the ability to save the memories of our houses.
You are so talented. I can't wait to see your new house in person when I come to visit.

Beautiful neutral palette! Great interiors!
I love your blog!
Oh my gosh! These photos are drop dead gorgeous! I am in awe! I just read the article and have loved that house. I didn't know it was yours!! The gardens, the amazing way you can make magazines look pretty, your collections and the shimmer of your silver leaf art! I love it ALL!! I am so glad to have seen this. AND, I am such a dog lover, I am glad you are too:-) xo, Kathleen
Wow! Everything's so gorgeous but I HAVE TO zero in on the floors!
The floors are pristine perfect and just what I want to have in my renovation. The wide plank throughout and in the kitchen that you have. I have yet to see a more perfect floor that I'm looking for in my mind.
I beg of you, can you 'please' tell me more about your flooring, what it is, name, type, etc? I really don't see any seams in the photos either so I'm further intrigued. It's just so flippin' gorgeous!!!
And my email re the floor questions is karunald

Beautiful house, Loi. That Swedish secretary is an amazing piece!
Can I ask, is the bed that was in the guest room the vintage white Iron & Brass bed from Charles Rogers? I've admired that for a long time.
Great eye! Yes 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!! Cheers, Loi
