Every spring I get the urge to freshen up the house and redecorate.  Sometimes I reupholster, change out pillows or replace one major piece of furniture or large accessory. This year I’ve decided to replace the beige wool rug in the family room. It, along with much of the furniture, came from our former home. (The rug was in a spare bedroom). Being so light in color and having such little texture, it is not the best choice for a family room where we and our two dogs like to hangout.I will post photos of the new family room rug once I find it. Please keep an eye out for one – something neutral, soft and with a bit of heathering or texture that is forgiving.

In the meantime, here are photos of our former home. Many of these photos are from the Sept 2008 issue of Traditional Home.

The photos are by the very talented Erik Johnson.  See his website: http://www.erikjohnsonphoto.com/

The door, sidelights & transom were faux painted. I found the antique French zinc lantern in Paris.
Both the Swedish clock and super tall mirror are at our new home.
The armchairs need to be reupholstered. Maybe in fall 2012?
These silk curtains, from Holly Hunt, are still at our former home.
A large abstract painting in silver leaf, oil and acrylic on canvas by artist Elizabeth Dax of Annapolis, Maryland.

We now have a different dining table and another set of similar Swedish chairs.
This Swedish secretary is one of my favorite pieces…now in our new living room.
I collect antique white ironstone china. Here are some displayed on an antique Irish rack in the kitchen.
The rug, in our current family room, was used in this spare bedroom.
An abstract painting on linen in the spare bedroom.
A peek of my former loft studio. I still have the antique Swedish apple tree, Dala horses and ironstone ware. But the pitchers have all found good homes elsewhere :)Hope you’ve enjoyed this tour!
